Summary: When your stepmother is sort of an alien and deals with other, real, aliens for a living, the excitement never dies down. As Dave, Rose and the children try to build life as a family, the past gets in the way of present developments and the future seems to be going to be quite different from what everyone imagined.
Author's Notes: The title is taken from the eponymous Mumford and Sons song Ghosts That We Knew.

Not much to report since last post, aside from getting dinged at work for too many tardies and deciding to shift my schedule so that I'm trying to start getting ready for bed around noonish rather than around 3pm, so that I've got a lot of time to oversleep without it making me late on days like today. Or more to the point days like yesterday, when I failed to make it to the gym before lunch with Grandma and wound up going to bed far later than I needed to (and so gave myself an extra hour to sleep) on a day when I needed to actually be at work half an hour early for a training session. So, very tired last night (after having been very perky the previous night, because the first day I went for the early bedtime I actually managed it), and I need to get myself off the computer and into bed sooner rather than later... (Though I've currently got six hours before my alarms even start going off, and that's without taking the option of giving myself an extra hour.)

But, yeah, the idea is to be able to get a decent amount of sleep each day and get out of bed with a few hours to spare before needing to leave for work. (Rather than aiming for out of bed right at the point where I have exactly the amount of time left it takes me to get ready and out the door in time to arrive at work right on time -- and being as many minutes late for work as I was dragging myself out of bed.) That first night I tried it, I had a few hours to kill that evening and was able to hang out in my bedroom knitting -- couldn't quite do that last night, between sleeping late and leaving early, but I have hopes for tonight.

If I can just get off the computer now...
